NICE! But where's the race report? :)

From josse on Sat, Mar 12, 2011 at 19:10:21 from 75.220.104.59

she enters it on her phone and it doesn't let her type anything in.

I'm too lazy to open my computer so I can't write reports. I guess I could do it with comments.

A friend paid my entry to the race so I would run with her so it was easy running ALL morning long. Nothing special to report race wise. LOVED the weather!

From Smooth on Sat, Mar 12, 2011 at 23:32:53 from 67.2.89.126

You too have a lot you have overcome and it's inspirational to hear what you've come from and who you are. I hope I don't sound too depressing and dreary when I tell stories. In an attempt to be less anti-blog, and because I have my computer open any ways, I will write about this oh so not so fun run.  I think the jump from 18 miles to 30 miles is taking a toll on my spunkyness.  But whose to say it's not the ice cream.  What ever the cause, my legs and lungs are super tired.  It was a slow one.

Oh hi, nice to read from you. I saw you during the Antelope Island shin dig(I was next to my mom when you turned around after passing her and yeld over your shoulder "are you Josse's Mom?"). Yeah that was Josse's Mom. You were doing a jumping jack running move with your arms over your head. It looked pretty sweet and I thought to myself I NEED TO LEARN THAT MOVE. You looked tired but strong. You did AMAZING on that not so short jaunt. Good job!

Warm up- 6.5 miles 9:07 ap

Mmmm, grapefruit.  Ok. I met Josse at the Elem. where the 5k started.  I've been so tired lately so I didn't run yesterday hoping I would have more energy today.  I felt pretty good, still a little sluggish.

5k- 8:13 ap

1- 8:03

2- 8:20

3- 8:15

I knew I wouldn't be fast today, but thought I would have been happy if I was able to pull off an 8 min pace.  I wasn't registered and I didn't have any pre race adrenaline so I just ran.  I pushed but probably could have pushed more.

Cool down- 3.4 miles 9:07 ap

Started feeling hungry and tired but tried pushing it a little here too. Lots of 5k loops, but it was a pretty good day.

15 miles and nothing to say? I'll say it for you.

I went out with Josse and the gang today. The first few miles were just kind of to get me warmed up. Then I picked up the pace a little. It felt pretty good. Around mile 5 I got some tightness in my knee but it went away. The last mile I kept telling myself, "You can do this." It was a good day and good company. I'm super cute.

From Ericka on Mon, May 09, 2011 at 22:50:41 from 160.7.247.193

Am I that predictable and full of myself? That's a pretty good assessment!

2 mile warm up with Jos and the gang, followed by 13.1 miles of the toughest race course I've had the pleasure of meeting. Good times. I'm super cute.

It's Monday today and I was barely sore yesterday and not sore at all today.  That makes me feel like I didn't push myself as hard as I should have.

Went up with Josse and her fam.  We went to packet pick-up and the way they had it set up put me in a pissy mood.  They paraded everyone around to three seperate locations to pick up everything which made it take waaaay tooo long.  It was chaos!

I don't have much to say about the race.  I was pretty conservative because I was afraid of going too fast and crashing at the end.  That's what I was thinking about the whole time and think it effected me mentally.  I didn't go into the race very confident :(  I felt decent the whole time though :) My watch time was 1:49:29

I wasn't expecting anything fantastic.  I was going to skip the whole damn thing and take a mini vaca but I decided to run and just concentrate on finishing.  My runs lately have been few and far between and every run includes several instances where it feels like my heart goes out of rhythm or I'm having a panic attack and then I get a surge of lactic acid and have to stop.

I started slow and just ran what felt comfortable.  I didn't push at all to start with.  After a few miles I was surprised at how good I felt.  It was a pleasant surprise. I started feeling hungry around mile 5 and realized I left my Hammer Gel in the car so I grabbed a Gu at mile 6 and held it until mile 8 aid station.  I felt a big difference and it was welcomed.  With 4 miles to go I was still feeling good and just tried to keep my pace steady.  About a mile to go I picked a girl to try to pick off a little ways ahead.  I caught her and she wasn't letting me pass so I was about to give up on that until she told me to go ahead.  I was feeling pretty dead so I told her to go for it.  She said she couldn't so I decided to go for it.

All things considered, I feel good about my effort.
